Hunting Units Oregon.

The Aldrich Vista Ranch is a quality property in the heart of Central Oregon's Grant County and Northside Hunting Unit. Approx. 7000 +/- contiguous acres of ideal habitat for Rocky Mountain Elk, Mule Deer, Antelope, Ruffed Grouse, and Quail. Spring and summer cattle grazing opportunity. Yearly allocations on LOP tags for elk and deer. Elk rifle hunting in this unit is all limited entry, but archery elk hunting is through a single general season. Both seasons are managed under a 3-point minimum regulation. Areas with higher elk numbers and open habitat include Clatsop Ridge, Davis Point, the lower Klaskanine River, Young’s, Necanicum and Lewis and Clark Rivers, and Ecola Creek. There are several antlerless elk seasons in Northside Unit, where success rates ran 28 to 50 percent last year. Lets say the odds against him were 3 to 1. It is heavily roaded and heavily hunted. There are elk there for sure. I believe a tree stand is by far your best option. My advise would be to stay with the area you know and go for another unit you can hunt every 2-4 years on a draw. I have 2 LOP elk tags for over 14,000 acres of private land in the Northside Unit. This will be a guided hunt with food and lodging included. 2 hunters per guide. The tags must be purchased together. Hunt dates are September 10th-14th. We have always had a high opportunity rate on this hunt. Hunt cost is $6000 plus lic/tag fees per hunter.

These hunts are a tool for hunters and landowners to directly work together to reduce elk damage. The hunt areas are nearly 100% private land and largely agricultural lands. Elk numbers are highly variable within the hunt area as many of the areas are designated as elk de-emphasis areas. It has always been managed for quality elk hunting. We consistently take bulls over 300 and a few over 350, with the average bull taken being a five year old 5 or 6 point. Hunter success has averaged over 90% for the last 20 years. This area holds a resident population of about 500 – 700 elk, with a bull to cow ratio of over 30 bulls per 100.
